REGIONAL MEET
Many students present at the regional meet. Approximately 600 + students meet at Penn State Behrend annually between January and March to present results for review by a panel of judges. Those students awarded a first earn the opportunityy to attend the State Meet.
PROJECTS
RESEARCH
Students research ideas and information to develop a question for investigation.
DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
Students craft a question based on background research and design an investigation that will generate quantifiable data.
DATA AND ANALYSIS
Students carry out research and collect data for analysis of trends and patterns. Data is interpreted and presented to support or reject the hypothesis to the question.
PROJECT PRESENTATION
Students design a presentation of their results. Presentation may be accomplished using a tri-fold backboard, or more commonly, digital software such as PowerPoint or Prezi. The presentation can be no longer that 10 minutes total.
STATE MEET
Students from all over the Commonwealth meet in May at University Park to present their projects. Panels of judges review all students again. Students earn a first, second or third award. Many first awardees are eligible for Special Awards at both the Regional and State Meets.
